Senior account director Min Chow has been part of Weber Shandwick’s Melbourne team since January 2016. After starting her PR career in her native Malaysia, then moving to Singapore, Min and her husband decided that they wanted to relocate to Melbourne after the birth of their son for the unique lifestyle that the city offered.
With her eyes set on Weber Shandwick, and having worked with Melbourne office lead Megan Rosier previously, Min got in touch.
“I was thrilled to be offered a position. I had trust in the business and knew I would be supported as I integrated into a new market,” says Min.
Return to client service
One of the aspects Min most enjoys about her role is being client-centric again. “In my last position in Singapore, I was in a business management role and spent more time juggling operational responsibilities. It’s incredibly energising to be back where the focus is on solving clients’ communications challenges.”
“I also believe there is no better way to get re-acquainted with a city and build your industry network than getting out there and pitching client stories relentlessly!”
“The support of the broader team in Sydney has been brilliant. Even though we work across state lines our team relationships are strong and I know that I can rely on them, and them on me,” continues Min.
National and global campaigns
Weber Shandwick’s Melbourne office provides on-the-ground support for clients across practice teams, both for campaigns run out of the Sydney office and through the global and regional network. For Min, this means working across diverse clients in consumer, corporate, technology and healthcare sectors and with Weber teams in Sydney, Asia, London and the US.
Min appreciates the client engagements that come from being part of an established global network. “So many opportunities result from being part of a broad global organisation,” explains Min. “It’s personally rewarding to be part of these campaigns and gain exposure to participate in innovative global and regional pitches.”
